![]() Aodh Ruadh are without doubt Donegal's most historic and successful club side. Whereas Naomh Muire are a "teenage" club having started in 1980.....Aodh Ruadh go back 102 years. Apart from the last decade 2000-2010....they have won at least a Senior Championship in every decade and were part of the great St Josephs side of the 60s and 70s. They have contributed some outstanding players to Donegal football including the record Donegal appearance player Brian Roper (pictured). A great club by all means. This respect for our visitors will and should last to 6.15pm on Saturday evening but then the business of playing them starts as our Naomh Mhuire Seniors aim to stay top of the league table division 3. In the past, the Club would be simply content to have Aodh Ruadh and similar clubs appear at the banks but those days are gone. Let's get down to all home games...and many away games this year and make big positive noises of support....an odd grunt and groan but not abuse at a ref and let the reserves and seniors know we are there . These lads deserve this....so all out this Saturday evening and support the lads in action. Naomh Mhuire reserves and seniors play away to St Nauls this evening 4.45pm and 6.15pm. Support is important in these games as we make a big drive towards promotion. St Nauls are a strong side, led by County player Stephen Griffen but our seniors have the bit between their teeth this year and they won't be happy coming away with anything but a win. Good luck lads.
All the very best to Naomh Mhuire Senior side who start off their league campaign against Naomh Colmcille (Newtowncunningham) in the banks tommorrow. Reserves play at 1.30pm and Seniors at 3pm. Where possible come down and support the lads in their efforts at getting promoted this year. They have worked hard in the winter months and all support is needed to bring the club to its rightful position. Good luck lads.
